could anyone who has a vinyl car take closeup shots of the finish? i really need to see some bubbly creased ass grossness to turn me off of this or i might have another go at it.
does anyone have techniques for making it go around curves in a smoothish way? close up pics of that?
also some dimly lit daytime pictures if possible? cause the stuff always looks great in high lighting conditions. trying to picture the reality of the situation.
any kind of application methods? heat guns i coudlnt seem to get to work very well when i did mine but i was pretty inexperienced about car shit in general at that point. soapy water, squeegies, what works?
who was that austrailian guy with the red vinyl sedan i was hating on a lot? the actual application of the vinyl seemed pretty well done.

What kind of vinyl is used in their setups? I hear they cost around $1000 to do a car in europe, but it looks just like paint, no bubbles or wrinkles this one was black to white

Im the hated one for some reason LOL aint got no close ups tho.... as those in the know , know vinyl looks reasonable from ~3 - 5m away Best way i found to do it, once id got about half way through the placement of the vinyl was that on FENDERS and REAR 1/4's and Bumpers its best to cut strips the length of VCR tapes , and place them on, using a hair dryer and a squeegie to mould it into spots with bends and bumps.. the roof , bonnet, boot and doors were easy to just cut the entire size of the object your going to cover and get 2 mates to hold the vinyl on each corner , pulling it outwards hard, and move the centre of the large piece towards the car , and squeegie it outward from centre

you know what...
my guess is it only looks bubbly and crinkely b/c the rainbow glitter and heavy chrome vinyl is suuuuch a thick mil its hard to lay over curves.
Ive seen "the drift truck" Mikey Shwartz' dogde (from the Whiplash series) orange vinyl job and it looks clean like that bmw. you cant even tell unless its pointed out to you. helps if the colors crazy bright and hard to focus on. (orange/white/ or in my case i had neon pink vinyled J-lines last year and a import show judge couldnt even tell) the thinner and more flexable the vinyl the better and smoother it will lay without bubbles/crinkle's
that bimmier is clean and done by pros whove prolly done it 100000X... John's GF was my 2nd attempt at vinyl body panels, Johns 1st... and it looks halfway decent, who knows how long it'll last here in PA tho... Jodi hid for cover during the flash flood at D-day last month...
Charlie, i have a siiiikk silver roll of thin mettalic that would look killer on a S14... but dont kid yourself, just buy some super mettalic silver "Nason" Paint (division of DuPont) it'll look 10x better and prolly cost the same if not less than 3 rolls of vinyl

sparkles, speckles, "flake", chromeness, and weird colors always look stupid. that's 90% the reason thart bmw doesnt look like all the rest of the feces posted inthis thread.

It looks good in pics because it is bright and covers up all the creases. It is just as good as a cheap 10 ft paint job. Within 10 feet all the fuckups come into light. So if you don't mind a 10 footer do it.
