They're basically the same size as the E60.  .5" wider, 2" longer, .2" taller I think?

Yeah I think you are right with those numbers but for some reason whenever I see them they just look bigger, im probably just retarded.   I like them tho, they did a much better job than the new 3 series with the goofy front end.

Did you take it out?

LOL.

it's not a hard fix:  remove solenoids, clean/remove junk screens.  upgrade to late-model accumulator.  if it still makes noise, you do a Dr. VANOS rebuild kit for $300.

LOL.

I find it that the rails on these things are a major factor in the noise, it will be back in 100k for another set of VANOS seals and cleaning the junk out of the adjusters.

somebody is gotta do it.

even my 03 makes a slight tick at startup. fucking vanos.

E39 m5 guys:
those breather hoses on the top of the valve covers that get soft as shit, anyone find an alternative other than the dealer for replacements? they want $100 a piece for em. Im running some temp ones cut from hoses I found at vatozone but they arent a permanent solution.

are yours leaking or something?  I know folks clean out those little cyclonic oil separators occasionally, but I don't know about the hoses.

If you are talking about the hoses that run from the valve cover to the oil seperators to the valve cover I can get those for $25 a piece

It may not help but I know the owner of OEM Parts Haus, left Texas for Denver not long ago but I think he can ship anywhere. My buddy's shop always used him for BMW, Mini, etc. His page is on Facebook and I assume he has a storefront website.

I think I paid 15 bucks for each hose from Tischer. They are cheap. The separators are more money.

The separators are more money.

And they're just hollow, and never go bad.  Just spray some carb cleaner on there -good as new.

P.s. Knockoff Dinan monoballs will be done mid May.

I just machined the sleeves for the softer street verisons yesterday at MA. They will be getting tested on my friend's M5, starting next week - he's anal about a decent ride, too.

when I bought it 1 was so soft it tore, and the other was SUPER soft.

Yeah, those be them. They cheap. Mine were soft as well, but not so much to tear.
