the only thing that sucks on older trucks besides the crappy brakes, the shitty gas milage, the uncomfortable ride and the fact it needs to be fixed way more than a nicer newer truck...

wait.

scratch all that. i just got a fully loaded 04 silverado 1500 GAS 5.3 and i love the hell out of it. you're not traveling the country with a loaded 2 car 5th wheel trailer, you're going to willow springs once a month....i'm just sayin.

Very valid point but it's going to be a noticable difference. A Silverado 1500 is gonna tow up to it's capacity, probably a little more just fine. A 2500 which is a hell of a step up is just meant to do it more efficiently. The chassis is beefier, the truck has bigger brakes and the engine line up consists higher liter engines including the duramax option, has factory trans cooler and tran temp gauge and the towing capacities are pretty up there. Also seems like 2500's hold their value a lot better then the 1500 series. Both good investments as long as you take care of them.

Too slow, no hitch, bad gas mileage.
