Wastegate flange looked like a 44 flange welded on backwards. Would have been ballin.

This is my first one. SCH40 1 1/4 mild steel.

This is where I started to get weirded out. If I flipped the 3rd cylinders 90 at the collector I would have no room for DP, so it's a good bit longer than the other three.

I pulled them all off, I had three tacks on each joint. None of it really seemed to pull after welding.

The collector was pretty open and easy to get at. I plan on bracing between 2 3 and the collector.

Advice or tips?

I'm not at all a fabricator but shouldn't you use heim joints for the bracing?

If you have to brace a sch40 mani you did it wrong. I'd take those off.

Port that collector.
It looks hot. Keeping 304 happy is all about keeping it super cool.
A tight 90 would prolly save you from having to do that milli mile pipe

I can't believe what you had to do to the 3rd runner. That's crazy. Tilt the collector or something, you'll find more responsive power if you can try to keep equal length runners. Not a foot of difference between 1 and 3.

Not bad for your first one.

Its like an 8 inch difference between the shortest and longest...

I will post pictures once its in the car with turbo and DP.

what are peoples views on ceramic coating? the last mani I had it started to flake off the outside.... is that a sign of bad prep or does it just happen with the heat cycling etc?

Im contemplating whether to coat my new manifold... I dont really want ceramic coating getting sucked through the turbo/IC/engine on the off chance it does flake off.

I wouldn't do ceramic coating.

I had a manifold Polydyne coated once and the results were awesome. Only bad part, it scratches real easy when you go to put in your car

Not my picture or manifold but it had this cool green/gold look to it and stays that color after heat cycle

I had a black ceramic coated PeakBoost manifold on my SR and it was nice for a few years. It did scratch if you weren't careful getting it in/out of the car but I feel like it kept heat down pretty well.

Ideally don't you want some sort of priority to wastegate, as once the turbo spools a large amount of exhaust gasses will be through the gate? And this would also increase enthalpy? eh?
