yea i understand, every year someone i know discovers that riding motorcycles is cool. Its like when you're 11 and you first discover your own boners. You are mystified and you think you've discovered the new world. Excitement abounds and you play with your boners even when you really shouldn't, and you want to talk about them with your friends and discuss playing with them all day long. Imagine you've got some older friends that already knew about boners for years, you're still all excited but they are kinda like.... yea we knew about it. That is why i don't ride in the cold anymore. -Al

< Loves your shit. I've only made a few exhaust manifolds and find this very helpful! It doesn't matter how good a welder you are, there are very private tips to stuff like this and its cool you shared it. I'm about to make a new manifold for alex's Evo II hillclimb car and this was a good pre-read.

really really awesome work man.
couple of questions. 1 how much would you charge for a manifold like this? and 2 do you put any thought into timing the runners to the turbo? like how some manifolds that are un-equal length but are designed that way so the exhaust puffs hit the turbo in sequence. is this BS or is it a real thing that actually makes a difference?

A basic one off manifold like this is about 950, downpipe is usually about 350-400. Depending on the car and what the owner wants I'll try to make the manifold with correct firing sequence but sometimes for the time allowed, space constraints, and the customers budget it isn't possible. To really engineer a perfect manifold for a customer would prob be an addition 1-3 days of work and a couple hundred more in materials. I've made manifold for as cheap as 500 and expensive as 3000. It really depends on the situation.

Incredible work. Really spectacular.
Do you find these crack like the Chinese stainless mani's or you have techniques to avoid that?

If you use the right stainless to start with then it wont crack if welded right. Problem is when you buy a cheep mani, they say its stainless but dont say what kind or take the time to weld it right.

Also, people hang a 20+ lb turbo off it with no brace, no flex in the exhaust etc. The exhaust is just a 10 ft long breaker bar, torquing every part of the manifold. If everything is mounted solid (with no rubber anywhere in the drivetrain) there shouldn't be an issue.
