just a few pics i took this week to show a different nozzel setup i use to get into tight areas inside collectors and such. also this tungsten is what i use for 95% of what i do.

do you make your own flanges too? also would a regular metal supply place have piping like that? i need to get a tig welder this is so rad.

i get most of my flanges from striaghtlinespecialties.com. if they dont have it i have a waterjet guy that makes what i need like the 4ag flange on this manifold. 16/18g tubing, bends, transitions, etc i get from spdexhaust.com. and the stainless elbow and pipe for themanifolds i get from acestainless.com

That's just called a 1" champagne nozzle like mentioned. Some places stock them, some don't.

Twinscroll stuff pairs cylinders that fire 360 degrees apart. Standard collectors get the order in a circular patter by firing order like you said.

i have a twin scroll turbo with a "custom" manifold

1&2 and 3&4 are paired. its wrong I know but will it be ok to put to use?

sweet cock towel you have there

I bolted this pig on to my sr20det with 370cc inj and a oem set up tuned ecu (afrs are good also!)
runs 11psi now with a tail 3 psi spring in a forge gate with 2 washers
pulls well. has much more power once it comes on full boost at like 3300 ish
3rd gear kicks are INTENSE now.  gotta kick on gas less!
im happy with it so far.

Any reason you use 1/16th? I've been told it doesn't make a difference until your almost micro welding. Seems like the 1/16th comes apart over 220 or so amps?

Jealous about your nozzel setups. All the shop has is a 1 5/8 12 Nozzel with some jacked gas lense with a 7in back cap. So goddamn frustrating to weld anything close to something else.

I need to get better at doing SCH tubing. I can almost cap off SCH40 tubing beveled all the way first pass, but it comes out real inconsistant. I can do head flanges pretty nice with .8 pulse though.

Yeah I was using 1/16th for everything but now I usually use 3/32 because anything really hot it starts to come apart.

95% of the stuff i do is less than 200 amps so the 1/16 works great. its easier to sharpen and also can be bent to get around some corners/edges.

Are there any rules to making un-equal length manifolds for SR's?  Ive seen the Tomei Expreme, it looks basically like a stock manifold layout but tubular...  Could i cock anything up by just making the runners as short/efficient as possible?  I want the response and that wacky sound.

Shame i dont have any tig skills tho.. Damn.  Miging manifolds sucks.

Unequal length runners typically decrease spool time cause they add more exhaust gas turbulence (I think?). Somebody else can chime in I'm sure. Equal length definitely gets more top-end power and smoother flow/scavenging effect. Not really sure how beneficial a scavenging effect is on a turbo motor though?

so is there a HUGE advantage to having complete twin scroll including twin wastegates or is twin scroll with a single gate good enough. I just need to know if i should cut up my manifold and put a second gate on it or leave it single. i just want a super responsive turbo system.

2jz, Borgwarner s200sx 75-70 turbo,

I never did a back to back test on my car, but I've driven lots of FDs with twinscroll single wastegate setups, and my FC with twin wastegates spools noticeably quicker. I'm not sure how a piston engine would compare though.

I just know that when I went from undivided .81 a/r to full twinscroll 1.00 a/r I got a boner.

Well it only makes sense, the whole point of twinscroll is to keep it divided. With one gate, you mix the two and induce a ton of turbulence.

....unless you do what I did on the Z.

Worked out awesome.
John, what are your settings on the machine when doing the tubing?
