Ok so my 04 Titan is'nt cutting it anymore. I just bought a 28ft enclosed trailer and picked it up with my Titan last week. With the trailer empty I almost had to have my foot on the floor. This is the first time I have felt that Nissan has severely OVER rated a trucks towing ability. ( 10k lbs )
Basically I'm thinking about getting an 04 Chev 2500HD Duramax Diesel. I know some of the guys on here have these, What kind of problems have you had?, things to look for etc?
I really don't want a Dually either, I love my Titan, I just wish it would haul more and get better mileage. Diesel swap an option?

There is one 1 problem. The LB7 has leaky injector rings. If the truck is under 100k it can be warrantied. If it is over 100k move on. Each injector is like 200 bucks and they are located inside the heads so it is a shit ton of work (payable labor & parts is like 3-4k to put it in perspective).
I had mine warrantied no hassle from the deal and my truck has had zero problems. The only thing you have to get used to which is true of all full size chevys is the the control arm click on front suspension when turning to lock.

stick with 04.5+, LB7 is a headache and nightmare with its injector issues. 04.5-05 was jammed with the 5spd and not as preferable but the 06-07 classic is the holy grail. lbz was equipped with the lovely 6spd trans and doesn't suffer 1/4 of the problems the lb7 had.
also, josh, LB7 warranty is up till 200k. had mine done at 105k on my old white truck.

The 06-07 stuff is a bit out of price range of what I'm willing to spend. If the injectors are warranted up to 200k then why worry about it?? Or do they keep failing?
These trucks are really expensive right now, I may have to wait until spring to get one.

I had a 2003 duramax, drove it 200k miles, injectors broke once and Chevy warrantied them. Great truck, would love it back! I have a llm 2007.5 now, almost 100k miles I have put on it, no problems.

it had an extended circumstance of 200k added onto it, they don't break just once. the design flaw is in the heads as much as the newer injectors, something about the way the injectors seat into the heads, they can't just use the new injectors. also the rails were subjected to corrosion which eventually ruined all 8. the first time i had mine go out 6 were bad, 50k later another 2 went bad. i was RELIGIOUS about fuel filters/quality/swap intervals...fwiw.

I'm pretty sure if the dealer knew you were filling up at McDonalds for fuel that they wouldn't warranty the injectors.
Pretty cool concept tho, this particular truck has had every mod under the sun on it.

So after I looked at all the crappy LLY Duramax work trucks I stumbled upon an 04.5 that was owned by Grampa old spice. Full Leather and actually taken care of unlike the others I looked at. Anyhow it came with an edge programmer and I gotta say that when you hitch up the truck doesn't even know it.
Thanks again for the tips guys, I owe you guys a drink next time were out.

15k out the door with 130k on her. Not bad, still feels like a lot for a truck with 130k on it.
