anyone towed a car with a late 80's or early 90's toyota pickup?

really want to get a small pickup for hauling stuff/going up to the mountains/winter driving,  but i would like to be able to tow stuff occasionally with it as well... possibly even a small car/trailer or dolly.
the toyotas are rated to 3500lbs towing capacity which is prob right at the limit, but also only have ~ 150hp, 180 lb-ft. for the 3.0 V6 model,  which is pretty low already, so obviously its not going to do well up a mountain pass.
but how about on flat ground?   has anyone done this before?

also looking at nissan pickup which is about the same power/towing capacity, and a lot uglier,
and mazda/ford b4000, which have a bit more power, but only 5 lug and like 2300 lbs towing capacity...
anything else I can look into?

I'd love to get a T100 with the 3.4L, but its a little more expensive and bigger than I would like.
and F1/250 and similar shit is way too big.     still needs to be able to parallel park on a crowded street, and get decent mpg (low 20's ?)

any suggestions?

toyota v6 in that gen have shitty headgaskets from what i remember, and the 4 cyl can barely move itself at highway speed.

the nissan frames and toyota frames rust in half between the bed and cab, wouldnt want to tow with either.

If you can't parallel park a F150 you can't drive.

No shit.
I've parallel parked my big ass f250 downtown multiple times and it really wasnt that big of a deal.

Why do all you doods wanna tow cars with these little tiny fucking trucks?

its not about being able to parallel park it, its about being able to find enough space to fit it at 9:30 at night in downtown denver.  hard enough to find a single spot  to fit a civic, much less two of those spots next to each other.  I'd parallel parked my old cummins dually plenty of times, not a big deal, just hard to find a spot big enough

and I want a tiny fucking truck so I can drive it around regularly and not get terrible gas mileage and not take up 2 spots in the parking lot at work and not feel like a dickhead driving around on the street with my huge fucking work truck that I maybe take advantage of its uses once every 3 months.

I'm not planning on towing across the country, or using it strictly as a 'tow vehicle' to tow my car to every drift event. It would just be a convenience if it was able to do a half decent job of towing even a car dolly on a flat highway.

too much to ask?

You ever flat towed a car with another car? It will be pretty much just like that except you'll stop slower cause that person won't be on their brakes.

the 3.0 sucks for everything. you look at it wrong an it will blow a headgasket or a water pump.
the 22r isn't bad for a DD. I love my truck to bomb around town an take on the highway, but there is no way I would tow with it.  I had 500lbs in the back an it was a dog, an sucked for braking. friends 3.0 is in pretty good shape, an it has more trouble pushing itself around with a headwind than my 22r. If I were you I would pick up a cheap 1/2 ton short box. still big enough to pull a car, but small enough to squeak out some decent mileage if you keep your foot out of it.
