1997 3/4ton 5.7 auto

after a bit on the highway while towing (probably does it while not towing too but i dont drive it other then towing) when i step into it to get it to down shift for a hill it will jump to the right rpm but there will be no power at all feels like the tranny grabs just fine but there is no power at all.

if i keep driving it will get to the point where any time i give it any gas and its over 2000rpm it just starts slowing down and feels like its going to die

heres the strange part, if i put it in N while driving down the highway and turn the truck off for a few seconds and back on it will be good again for a little bit

i ran the truck out of gas a few months ago so i replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump relay and it seemed to help a little bit

friend told me to replace the spider under the intake mani and i can get a rebuilt one for 240 or a new one for 320

any other thoughts?

Sounds like your O2 sensor circuits have low voltage.

I had a 1996 burb.
same motor. 4x4.

I purchased it for $500.

I ran into the same issue you have, spent 2 days trying to figure it out.

I fixed the situation...
JUNKED IT.  got $700;

fuck those trucks!

Fuel Injector spider went bad on my old one, didn't really do anything similar to that though, it just misfired a lot.

I got used to it and never fixed it then ran it into a tree.

hope that helps.
