I thought about turbo when I got home too
Recently rebuilt, previous owner was daily driving it and it shut off on him(no dash lights, wouldnt start)
I traced it all down to a relay under dash unplugged which was not giving power to fuel pump.
Got it to run but smokes.
I have not driven it on the street yet, just pulling in and out of the shop so far.  I'll take it out after work today

if its freshly rebuilt, its possible that he's got the springs on the oil control rings facing the wrong way.  That would make it smoke really badly too.  Get some miles on it and report back

Some people like to pour all kinds of weird shit inside rotaries when they sit, maybe he "prepped" it to sit and you could be burning off some atf, mmo or god knows what.

Good suggestion Jeremy I've seen that one too. Does it smoke as bad under load?

Jesus what a night but Jeremy was deff onto something (as soon as I pulled the dipstick I got a pssshh)
Warmed it up to go drive it on the street but before I did that I was looking around at the filler neck/nipple, it was capped
At the same time I'm feeling something cold on my hands, damn fuel leak
Simple fix(hard line rubbed a pinhole)
Then it decided it wanted to keep blowing the 15A engine fuse and I had to trace that down for an hr.
Finally unflood it again run it to warm up WITHOUT the cap on and jesus christ what a night and day difference!!
Barely any smoke at all!!
I'll run it again tomorrow and check things again but I think its been narrowed down.
I did put the cap back on and gave it a few revs and sure enough tons of white smoke was back

Awesome! Hopefully that's all it is. Try to run both the little vents on the filler neck to something, either a catch can or the intake before the turbo.

I had this same problem on my FD years ago!  Doing what you said fixed the problem.  Filler neck vent -> catch can -> pre turbo OR just dont give a fuck and vent the can.
