So it looks like after talking to a few different people, a carbon clutch is what will give me the slip and grab compromise that I need.
I haven't seen too many carbon clutches in here but I'm sure if I went through every build thread, I'd find some.
My questions are what carbon clutches have you used, how have they lasted, and would you go with that brand again? Why or why not?

I had an ATS twin 8.5(?) for my 350z. I got it used, a friend used it on his twin turbo setup before I got it. I used it NA V6 and NA V8 and then sold it used to another friend and it's still kick. Easy to drive, revs quickly, easy to slip, grabs hard when you get some heat into it. Honestly the best clutch I've ever owned.

ATS single is the only one I've had experience with second hand. bought it used from vosko and my buddy threw it in his sr. slips until it gets hot but seems to work well.
i'd get him to chime in but he hardly gets online.

Its going to be hard to get information about carbon since you're changing the whole clutch. I can't really think of any issues with carbon clutches to the carbon itself.
All of my experience with them was with Tilton quadplates for 1200whp+ supras. They were finicky about clearances. real finicky. but after they were setup right they're great, Thats more of a Tilton hydro bearing thing to me though.
They engage differently depending on how hot they are, really the only difference I'd attribute to carbon. We had a cooler we'd bolt to the bell housing to blow air on it to cool it for a while. Most of the time they just let it sit for a while between runs.

Did an APS 350z and we put a exedy carbon/carbon twin in it. Was quiet and easy to drive, from what I've seen on honda-tech they last longer for the drag racers and grab better. I moved the Z around a few times and from what I remember it wasnt bad to drive, the guy who owned the car didnt have any problems with it and was totally new to anything fast.

I think it's a driveline saver because it's likely to give before something breaks but grabs awesome when it's hot
